Childrens Rules

If we all follow these rules everyone can feel safe and happy and have a good time playing with their friends.

• We will be kind and look after each other. No one likes to be left out. It upsets us and makes us angry.

• Bullying is always unacceptable this includes: fighting, play-fighting, name-calling, threatening behaviour, spreading rumours, teasing and excluding someone from play.

• We all have the right to play and we should give each other some space when needed.

• We will try to stay calm and listen to each other.

• We should tell a member of staff if we have a problem we cannot sort out alone.

• We will tidy our toys away when we finish playing with them before getting something else out.

• We will leave our own property e.g. toys, games, mobile phones, at home so they do not get lost or broken.

• We will remember to walk when inside the building and go quietly in the corridors and on the stairs.

• We will not bring sweets with us after school.

• We will come quickly to the meeting point after school for registration.

• We will line up quickly and quietly when asked to.

• We will always listen to each other and remember that staff make decisions to keep us safe and so that we can all enjoy ourselves.

Incident Procedures in regards to Parents

Parents should refrain from reprimanding other people’s children in the Schools Out club setting for several important reasons.

First, every family has different parenting styles, and what one parent may see as inappropriate behaviour might be acceptable to another. By stepping in, parents risk overstepping boundaries and undermining the authority of the child’s own parents and the play workers who are looking after the children.

Second, children may feel confused or anxious when disciplined by someone they are not familiar with, which can lead to discomfort or tension within the group.

Lastly, addressing concerns with the staff team fosters better communication and cooperation, allowing the group to maintain a positive and respectful environment for all. Respecting boundaries helps preserve trust and keeps the playgroup harmonious.

Procedure if an incident has occurred.

• If an incident has taken place which has been witnessed by a member of staff, then a report will be given to the parent/carer when the child is being collected.

• If an incident has taken place while collecting your child/children, then a staff member should be called over to take control as we will need to speak to the person who has witnessed and take a full account of what has happened and also speak to the children involved.

• If an incident is reported by a child to a parent/carer after they have been collected and off site, then the parent must contact the site manager immediately via email as an investigation will need to take place to find out what had happened and why this incident was not reported to a member of staff whilst the child/children were in their care.

• After investigation then the findings will be reported back to both sets of parents/carer if more than one child was involved in the incident.

• Measures will then be put in place to make sure that the incident will not happen again. Staff will liaise with both parents and School teachers as the children are in a School site prior to our care and any issues may not be just isolated to the Schools Out Club setting.
