Childrens Street Safety Procedure

Children’s Street Safety Procedure for escorting & the Holiday Club

The Schools Out Club staff will take every step to ensure the well-being of all children while outside of the premises.

When walking along the road, we will ensure that all children follow the Street Behaviour Code.

Schools Out Club staff will ensure that they follow the procedure below:

Procedures

  • When there is more than one staff member out with children, we will ensure that a staff member remains at the front of the line at all times and will lead the children, taking principal charge for the crossing of roads.

  • Staff will endeavour to use at all times when crossing roads a pelican crossing, zebra crossing or subway, if these are not available, they will find a place where they are able to see clearly along the road in each direction to ensure the safety of all children while crossing roads.

  • The staff will ensure that all children are paying attention and are quiet before crossing a road. If the number of children requires more than one staff member/supervising adult, the staff will ensure that the last person to cross the road is always an adult.

  • When there is more than one staff member accompanying the children, we will ensure that they are placed at all times evenly along the line of children and that they are moving up as required after each road is crossed.
